Frequently asked questions
What is boolean search on LinkedIn?
Boolean search uses the operators AND, OR and NOT (plus quotes and parentheses) to combine keywords precisely. For example: ("product manager" OR "product owner") AND SaaS NOT recruiter. It works in the LinkedIn search bar and in Recruiter.
How do AND, OR and NOT work?
AND requires all terms, OR matches any term, and NOT excludes a term. Use quotes for exact phrases ("project manager") and parentheses to group OR clauses so they evaluate together.
Where do I paste the boolean string?
Paste it into the LinkedIn search box (or the keywords field in Recruiter / Sales Navigator) and run the search. You can edit it afterwards to refine results.
Does the builder send my search anywhere?
No. It builds the string entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Why are some words wrapped in quotes automatically?
Multi-word phrases must be quoted so they are matched as a phrase rather than as separate words. The builder quotes them for you; you can turn this off.
