How to Bold Text on LinkedIn
Updated 2026-06-13
The short answer: LinkedIn has no bold button, so you paste bold Unicode characters instead. Type your text below, click a style, copy it, and paste it into LinkedIn. It works in posts, comments, your headline, your About section and messages — on both desktop and the mobile app.
Formatted text uses Unicode characters. Screen readers may read them awkwardly and LinkedIn can't search them — use formatting for emphasis on a few key words, and keep important keywords in plain text.
Step by step
- Type or paste your text into the box above.
- Select the words you want bold (or leave nothing selected to bold everything).
- Click Bold — your text becomes 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱.
- Click Copy, then paste into the LinkedIn field you’re editing.
Where you can use bold text
- Posts and comments — to emphasise a key phrase.
- Headline — but keep searchable keywords in plain text (see character limits).
- About section — for subheadings, used sparingly.
- Messages — to highlight one important line.
A word of caution
Bold Unicode is not real bold — it’s a separate set of characters. That means LinkedIn search can’t find bolded keywords, and screen readers may read them oddly. Use it for emphasis on a few words, never for whole paragraphs.
